Our recent visit to Amelys Restaurant was a blend of highs and lows. On a positive note, the food quality was commendable and the staff exhibited a friendly demeanor. However, there were a couple of notable lapses in service: Delayed Service: After our second course, there seemed to be a forgetfulness in service. We observed other tables being attended to and cleared, while we were left waiting. It required our intervention to inquire about the delay in our dish. Wine Service Oversight: Our main course was accompanied by wine glasses, yet the actual wine service was forgotten. This led to an uncomfortable wait and our food cooling down before we had to remind the waiter about it. Regarding the pricing, the total of 341€ (230€ for food and 111€ for drinks) seemed steep. We couldn't help but feel a push towards purchasing more expensive drinks, possibly a strategy encouraged by management. Additionally, the practice of soliciting tips during card payment, although understandable, felt out of place and somewhat pressured, especially considering the non-U.S. setting. For comparison, my weekly lunches at Apulia Restaurant in Auchan, serving much larger clientele size in busier setting and with seemingly similar number of staff as in Amelys, are consistently error-free and cost significantly less. This contrast in service efficiency and pricing is notable. In summary, while the food at Amelys is of high quality, the service does not consistently match this standard. For a restaurant of Amelys' caliber, exceptional and seamless service should be a given. This experience aligns with several reviews we had seen on public forums, highlighting good food but a shortfall in service quality.
